Chapter 4: The One Who Holds The Key

An alarm rang in a sunny morning. Rein who’s still in bed, wakes up. But still feeling hazy, then he looks to a calendar hanging on the other side of the room. A red marker had circled today’s date with ‘Avatar Burst Intro’ written under it. “Reeeein! If you already wash up, come down, breakfast is ready!,” Called someone from first story. “Yeah, Mom!,” Rein answers.

Rein’s body moves reflexively, took a bath, put on his uniform, and put his books to his bag. When he comes down, his mother is reading a model magazine. A typical ordinary mom? Not even close. Rein’s mom is a supermodel in Europe, She is always seen at the magazine. She’s often being the main model at Haute Couture. But now, She’s on her holiday and will be staying with Rein for the time being. 

“Thanks for the food, Mom. I’ll be going okay.” Rein said while putting his dishes in the sink. “You’ve made some friends right?,” His mom asks. “ *sigh* Yeah, pretty much.” His mom put away her magazine and walks to Rein. “Be good at school, okay?,” and she hugs Rein. Rein nodded, “Bye, Mom.”

Chapter 3: The Forgotten One

Rein wakes up, finding himself floating on water. He tries to stand up, but his feet aren’t ready to support him so he fell again. The weird thing is that the water splashes didn’t make him wet.

Then Rein looks at his reflection, his clothes change. Now he isn’t wearing the school uniform, He wears a white suit. Rein looks at his surroundings, it’s all white. But there’s a black door. When Rein is walking to that door, the door opens slowly and someone in black suit came out. He wears a glasses and a grin decorates his face. “Who are you?,” Rein asks. He points to the water beneath Rein. “You’re… me?.” That other Rein laughs. “You totally had forgotten me, huh? Yes, Rein. I’m you, actually I’m your other personality. The long forgotten personality. Thanks to you saying ‘The old self possessing me again’, I’ve found a door to enter your mind. Well the effect of me entering your mind is… That pain on your head,” Rein confused. “I’ve never made you and I don’t know you,” His grin disappears and changed in to a sad face for a moment, but suddenly he laughs again. “Oh, silly me. I haven’t introduced myself am I? My name is Thanatos. For now, we shall say our goodbye. Your ‘new’ friends are waiting,” then he moves super fast and stopped right in front of Rein, He grins and flicks Rein’s fore head.

Chapter 2: The Logical Ones

Rein waits for Ryuuji in front of his house. Since he is the only one who wants to be friends with him and fortunately, his house is near. Even though Rein didn’t show any kind of interest in him, but Rein felt really happy. In middle school, Rein almost had no friends due to his introvert personalities. Many more disliked him because of his intelligence, everyone thought that he’s arrogant. But he doesn’t care. ‘They don’t like me? So what? I don’t need them anyway’. At first, he can stay in his principle. But as time flows, he also felt lonely. Rein also a human you know?. Now that a he found someone who understand and accept him, he wants to treasure him no matter how. “Good morning, Rein”. That voice woke Rein up from his past delusions. “Eh… Yeah morning, Ryuuji”. Ryuuji reply it with a smile and they start to walk together.

Ryuuji’s face shows that he feels happy today. ‘I guess it’s because yesterday i told him that today might be the day Avatar Burst system will be introduced’. Rein thought. “Ryuuji… Don’t fly too high. When you fall, it’ll hurt you a lot”. Rein said, feeling a bit worried. “What I said yesterday is still a probability”. Ryuuji couldn’t help but to laugh. “Rein, are you worried?”. “Wha-! Why would I? It’ll be just a waste of mind to worry about you”. Rein said sarcastically. Ryuuji still laughing, “I know it’s still a probability, but i just can't get it of my mind, Rein”. “Okay then”. After that conversation they walk in silence.

Introduction

Because I'm so passionate about this novel blog, I forgot to introduce myself and, of course, my team.
This project was built based on imagination and inspiration alone. The source of inspiration? My friend of course. He is also part of this team, he will be at the humor editing. Well enough chit-chat, Let's get to the point.

Chapter 1: The Rumored One

As Rein walks through the corridor, everyone around him whispers. He hates drawing too much attention, it makes him nervous.

“Isn’t he the one that finished the test in just 45 minutes? I thought it's only a rumour”

“Do you think he was cheating? It’s like impossible to do that. I also heard he reached the top 2 highest score in the admission test”

“His looks made me think that he really did cheated! He seems like a lazy and messy kid, just like a delinquent”

Well about that cheating thing, the teachers also had called Rein 3 days after the test. They suspected him cheating. Then Rein told them one thing, “You can test me, if you want to”. So they asked 5 hard questions and Rein did 4 of them perfectly, the other one false because of his carelessness.

Rein just walks through the crowd without responding to those comments. His new class is X-1, there are only 3 regular classes and 1 acceleration class. Rein also had been offered to take the acceleration class, but he rejected it. Rein think that it’s just a waste of effort. ‘Why should I take 2 years class but I’ll be stressed out of its curriculum? I’ll waste too much energy to study’. The only reason Rein wanted to enter this school is because of its special feature, called: Avatar Burst. For now he knows only one thing about it, ‘It’s a fighting game’.

Prologue

The school is now full of silence. The birds that were tweeting are now also in silence. The participants of the test are over 1000 people. Only one target printed in their minds, “Win this battle and you can enter the best high school in Japan”.

A boy had just finished the test, before anyone even see the final question. He took his pencil case and put it in his bag. He stands and starts walking to the teacher’s desk. Every steps broke other student’s concentration. As he walks the teacher looked at him as he is joking. But, his eyes showed nothing but seriousness. He hands over his answer sheet and walk out the class, without any word.
